Van Nuys Airport Observation Area

Whether you’re an avid aircraft photographer or just want to take in some plane spotting, Van Nuys Airport Observation Area is a great place to spend some time. Located just off Woodley Avenue at the end of Waterman Drive, the airport’s public observation area is open from 8 a.m. to sunset and features a continues live broadcast of air traffic control information on the airport tower radio frequency.

It's an awesome way to take a break and enjoy some family time at the same time!

During my recent visit to the public observation area, I was able to see some planes that were taking off and landing. I got some really good pictures of them as well!

The airport is a popular destination for both tourists and locals. It is a major hub for general aviation and is the 25th busiest in the country.

It's also a very important military base for the United States. It is located in the city of Van Nuys, which is in the San Fernando Valley and is part of Los Angeles.

There are many ways to get to the airport, but one of the most convenient is by public transit. Check out the Moovit app for up-to-date schedules, fares and more!

You can also use the Google Maps app to find out how to get there from your destination. Just type in the address of Vny Public Observation Area and it will show you all the closest stations to get there!

This is a very convenient option for people that aren’t sure where to start their spotting trip. The parking lot for the public observation area is on the left side of the road as you approach the airport and there are lots of spots.

It is a very easy place to get to and has lots of restaurants nearby as well. You can get a good meal here and then head to the observation area afterwards.

The Observation Area is perfect for little ones and there is even an area to drop off the kids while you’re watching the airplanes! The little kids can run around and play in the area with some cut outs of an airplane, a fire truck, police car and a mini-runway that you can walk on.

There is also a speaker that plays air traffic control information on the aircraft as they take off and land. I was able to watch a couple of different planes during my visit and the kids loved it!

It’s an amazing place to take the family and there are lots of great restaurants that are a short walk from the parking lot. It’s the ideal spot for a quick lunch or dinner and if you don’t have time to go to LAX, this is an excellent alternative!
